Birthday
Made it through my birthday, mostly unscathed. Of course, in an effort to help me enjoy the entire 24 hours, my cat decided that it was inappropriate for me to get any sleep starting when the clock struck midnight. So I spent the first half of the day groggy and sleep deprived. Thanks to those of you who called for putting up with my advanced state of exhaustion.
Of course, it got better from there. Hubby got home from work, bringing me a beautiful selection of chocolates. He's a good man. We went to Midori's class at the Citadel, and then out to dinner at Thai Basil in SoMa. Yum! I have to say, they make my favorite soup ever - Tom Ka Gai. To close out the evening, we went to BaGG for about an hour, and managed to be home and in bed just after midnight.

IMsL and medical
IMsL was awesome. I met cool people and got to do a fair amount of flirting. Due to medical reasons, I could not be bruised over the weekend, so I concentrated my play on topping, and had a couple of fantastic scenes! It's nice to know that when I put myself out there, people respond, and I felt pretty confident throughout the weekend. Thanks tons to all of you who I spent any amount of time with this weekend - you all really made it special for me.
So, brief update on medical stuff. I had surgery on Wednesday to remove a lump from my breast. Nothing serious, but scary nonetheless. I am doing well, not in any pain at all, and was able to remove the bandage and take a shower today. I have been pretty functional since yesterday, and am only a little bit more off than usual at this point. :)

School
Today was a monumental day. I took an exam.
Doesn't sound like much, does it? However, if all sources are correct, it was the last exam I had to take in order to get my Associates Degree. Scheduled graduation date - December 12, 2008. Better late than never...

Layering
As some of you who have received my frantic phone calls know, this week had been all about layering. Clothing. As in, how do people do this? I have actually managed to put together some reasonable clothing, including buying real closed-toed shoes.

Me: What about socks?
Her: What about them?
Me: Can I ask you a semi-personal question?
Her2: Ummm, yes.
Me: What are you wearing?
It has been a wonderful few days of laughing with others at myself, and learning something that I need to know in the process. Yes, I am a real Florida girl.

Coming up for air....
After an absolutely insane weekend, it is Monday night, and I have finally finished all of my homework for tomorrow. Yay!!!!
This Wednesday, we are having a TNG dinner for the first time ever. We have had educational events occasionally over the past few years, but are finally starting to get some response now that we are just getting together to hang out. Wish me luck - I am running this thing with the help of one other person (without whom, the dinner would not be happening). Anyone with advice on how to get the word out and create a cohesive TNG community in South Florida, it would be appreciated.

Exercise
Yesterday, I finally decided to start doing more cardio. I went to the gym, went on the treadmill, and actually jogged for 5 minutes out of 20. At the end of the workout, I was sweating like crazy, and I could not feel my legs, but I was completely euphoric, as I did not even come close to passing out.
Fast forward about 4 hours, and I needed to put ice on my ankle. Need to remember to stretch BEFORE I start beating up my joints. Today I am a little bit sore, but luckily can still walk.
The good news is, I have taken that first step towards gaining more endurance. It will come in handy some day.

Question #2
Honestly, how painful was it to get your nipples pierced? Any regrets?
It was about as painful as doing needle play on nipples. Basically, it hurt when the needle pushed through either side of the skin. I did put on a bra that night under the dress I was wearing to provide a little more protection as they started to heal.
In regards to the piercing, the only regret I have is not getting in touch with the piercer when I had a problem with one of them being repeatedly infected. I waited over a year until I ran into her again, asked about it, got a solution, and it was fine within a couple weeks.

Question #1
What do you say to people who ask you this question..."but if you had to choose which way would you go, top or bottom?"
My short answer to this is "yes". Depending on the seriousness of the question and the tone of their voice, I will attempt to explain more. If it is a condescending Domly Dom, then "yes" is usually all that they get.
The longer version: The way I play does not define who I am. I enjoy playing in different roles, just like in my vanilla life, I take on different roles. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, an employee, and a student, to name a few. There is no way that I could choose between those roles, any more than I could choose between top and bottom. It is all part of the things that make up the person who I am.
And if I want to put it back on them: Do you honestly think that I should compromise myself to fit into one or the other just so other people will be more comfortable?
